Statement on the 54th National Resistance Day of Burma

March 27th, 99 mark the 54 National Resistance Day of Burma against the
Fascist Japanese colonial ruled by General Aung San, national leader,
under the banner of AFPFL. It was one of the victory struggles for the
entire population of Burma who fought unitedly against the Fascist rule.

The present SPDC, the illegitimate government of Burma is now defaming
the unity of people who laid down theirs lives for the betterment of the
nation by blatantly renaming to the National Resistance Day of Burma as
the Armed Forces Day. It is outstanding in the history of Burma that
farmers, workers, monks, students and people from all walk of life of
Burma under the leadership of General Aung San and AFPFL fought unitedly
against the fascist military colonial rule with what ever weapons was
available. Thus in order honour the victory which was achieved through
the united people movement, we shall never recorganize Arm Forces Day
renamed by BSPP and SPDC who are trying to create misunderstanding
between people and army, to be obverserved in Burma.
On this gracious occasion of Burma, we Democratic Students of Burma in
order to express our genuine demand to establish a democratic country.
Urge to the people of Burma to-
1. Fight unitedly against the SPDC military rule.
2. Participate in the activities for the transferring power to the
elected party (NLD) led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
3. Launch attempt to help release political prisonners, including
student leader Min Ko Naing.
4. Work hand in hand with the democratic forces in their fight against
the military dictatorial rulers and establish the democratic country in
Burma.

The victory must be our
