Multi-religious memorial (service) for the late Dr. Michael Aris, husband of
1991 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

The ruling Burmese junta refused an entry visa to the late Dr. Michael Aris
who wanted to see his wife Daw Aung San Suu Kyi for the last time as he was
suffering from prostate cancer with no chance of recovery.

Dr. Aris passed away on his 53rd birthday on March 27 in London. His dying
wish to see his beloved wife of 27 years was not fulfilled.

Burmese in Tokyo will hold a multinational and multi religious prayer
service for Dr.  Aris according to the following schedule.

We cordially invite you to attend the ceremony. The media is encouraged to
attend this memorial which shows that things dear to Aung San Suu Kyi are
dear to the peoples of Burma irrespective of race or relgion.

Time   10:00 to 16:00
Date   2 April, 1999 (Friday)

(Five minutes walk from JR Otsuka station south entrance, OR
8minuteswalk from  subway Marunouchi Shin-Otsuka station, in the direction
of JR Otsuka  station.
