Mass Rally for CRPP

A rally in support Committee Representing People's Parliament will be held
in Canberra, Australia on 27th of May 1999 outside the SPDC office , 22
Arkana street Yarralumla.

This rally is to express support toward the Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led-CRPP on
the 9th Anniversary of 1990 election , organized by All Burma Students
Democratic Organization ( Australia). The action is part of the 9999 action
leading up to International day of action on 9th of September 1999.

National League for Democracy (NLD), won 82% of the parliamentary seats in
1990 election. However, the junta has shamelessly ignored and has not
honored the election result; instead, it has imprisoned hundreds of elected
people?s representative and their supporters.

Again, the call for convening of the parliament on 21 August 1998 by Daw
Aung San Suu Kyi led- NLD was ignored by the SPDC regime.
In mid-September, 1998, 251 members of the Burmese people?s representatives
elected in 1990 formed the Committee Representing People?s Parliament
(CRPP). This committee has also been endorsed by all of the Burmese
communities around the world, as well as by a majority of Burmese
pro-democracy political parties, student unions, trade unions, ethnic and
religious groups and the entire people of Burma.
The CRPP represents the will of the people and the democratically elected
People?s Parliament according to the 1990 election results and therefore,
has been established as the Highest Authority of the People of Burma. And it
is entitled the lawful right to convene the People?s Parliament as per 1990
election results.

In the program, the students will present The Street theatre demonstrating
the current political struggle for a democratic Burma.
Members of All Burma Students Democratic Organization (Australia), will be
traveling from many parts of Australia to join this event to show their
support for CRPP, on this auspicious occasion

This rally is supported members of Burmese community, Australian students
unions, trade unions, NUS, Free Burma Students Network, plus many individual
supporters.
