Serving dinner

The 27 May 1990 was the day on which the Burmese Military Government =
held its first general elections in 25 years. NLD party led by Nobel =
Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi overwhelmingly won the election, but has been =
denied office by the Military junta up to this day.

The Military junta which became the State Law and Order Restoration =
Council (S.L.O.R.C) and more recently renamed itself the State Peace and =
Development Council has continued to rule Burma through the barrel of =
the gun, military intelligence and repressive laws, denying the Burmese =
people their most basic human rights. Thousands continue to die each =
year at the hands of this brutal and repressive regime, especially =
amongst dissident ethnic minorities, hundreds of political opponents are =
imprisoned and tortured in Burma=92s infamous gaols.=20

In August of 1998 Aung San Suu Kyi formed a "Committee of =
Representatives of Peoples Parliament" CRPP) to represent the Members of =
Parliament who are unreasonably arrested and placed under house arrest. =
Since the formation of CRPP more NLD officials and supporters have been =
arrested. Up to date there are 150 MPs and 2000 =96 3000 activists have =
been arrested.

Aung San Suu Kyi has asked for international support for CRPP, and we =
urge the international organisations and all governments of the world to =
give support to Aung San Suu Kyi in her endeavour to restore democracy =
in Burma by supporting the CRPP.

We encourage you to accept our invitation and show your support for Aung =
San Suu Kyi and CRPP.

Please confirm your attendance to Saw Ne Win on 9546 1115 by Tuesday, 26 =
May, 1999.

Yours faithfully,

Kyaw Soe Moe

(On behalf of the Joint Committee)
