 U-S Senator Patrick Leahy has been awarded the John Peter Zenger Press
Freedom Award from the University of Arizona. In his acceptance speech, the
Vermont Democrat spoke of the long tradition politicians have had of
standing up for First Amendment rights. Leahy said that tradition has to
continue in this age of the Internet. He warned that totalitarian regimes
``from China to Singapore to Burma'' are working to control the Internet.
