Shan Pop Singer Dies

Sanloi, the singer who had charmed thousands of his fans with songs
mostly
composed by himself, died of heart failure at his home in Chiangmai
today,
reported his bereaved wife.

Sanloi, 40, a native of Mongpiang, Kengtung,Shan State of Burma, died
quietly at his home in Fang District, Chiangmai Province.

He was known for a number of love and patriotic songs. But his most
wellknown one is "Seven wives Sanloi". He, in real life, had only one
wife
who was known for fiercely devoted to her husband. He had left three
children, who lived with his mother in Lampang.

His funeral is on Thursday, 24 June. It shall be organized by members of
"Freedom's Way", the musical band that he helped fund in 1983. The
remaining
members are Sengzern Salawin, Tha Oo, Khun Sua and James. Another
founding
member, Sai Mu, died in 1994.
