85 members resign from Pyapon Towns (r)

Subject: Re: 85 members resign from Pyapon Township NLD

On a daily basis one will see in the Burmese newspapers as to how many NLD
members have resigned and which townships they are from. The following
article explains how the NLD members have to quit for fear of being
harassed by the military intelligence units of the SPDC.

How NLD is being annihilated by SPDC [Revised]

In order to strip membership and force resignation, military intelligence
units are responsible to visit members of the NLD, National League for
Democracy, the party that won a landslide victory in the 1990 elections.
Only NLD has the right and authority to strip members of their membership.
SPDC does not.

Township after township, city after city and village after village,
military intelligence units of Lt. General Khin Nyunt reach out their hands
, not to give help but to tell, threaten and intimidate them to sign
resignation letters already
prepared by the MI units. These MI agents have to record the resignation
letters and report them back to their bosses who are usually majors in the
army.

The strategy of the MI headed by Lt. General Khin Nyunt is not to force
Aung San Suu Kyi out of the country. It is neither to share power with her.
But it is to let her stay the way she is while eliminating her party
members until there is zero. Simultaneously SPDC will supply the
international media with information they want the world to hear by means of
OSS. Depressing, forcing and intimidating are major tools used by the MI
units to get NLD members to resign without fail. On a daily basis the state
media proudly declares in the newspapers which NLD members from which
township have resigned. How force and intimidation is used as tools for
resignation is never explained.

Many NLD members have been defamed by MI units. Many NLD members have been
accused of committing crimes they have never committed in their lifetime.
Many opposition figues in the film industry have got their production and
performance licenses revoked.
