YANGON, July 14 (Reuters) - Military-ruled Myanmar said on Wednesday it
would privatise 11 more state enterprises by selling them to local citizens
or bodies via competitive bidding.

The Myanmar Privatisation Committee said in an announcement carried in
state-owned local media that the enterprises up for sale would be two soft
drink and ice factories, a rice mill and eight cinemas.

Myanmar has been practising a market economy concept since the military
seized power in a bloody coup in 1988. The government has been gradually
trying to privatise state enterprises but progress has been slow.

More than 15,000 state enterprises were nationalised by the first military
government in Myanmar which seized power in 1962.
