The Time is Now

Opposition Leader Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD Leadership made the right
decision not to rescind the "People's Representative Committee". The party
cannot be more pragmatic than now. The party requested to have talks with
the junta several times and it is the junta that has backed out of things,
blaming the party of senseless accusations. The best remedy to defuse the
gridlock is to start a dialogue between the two sides. SPDC should not set
any conditions on NLD. NLD has never backed out of things. If one asks why
NLD, the answer is because the party was legitimately voted by the people of
Burma to lead the country in 1990. The state media confirmed the victory won
by the party.

A dialogue is not where one side is summoned by the other side for purpose
of rebuking. A dialogue is a free discussion where representatives of both
sides can debate, discuss and reach agreements or disagreements. Neither the
military junta nor the opposition has nothing to lose even if only
disagreemenets are reached. NLD has once again offered to have a dialogue
with the military brasshats. What is the junta waiting for? Maybe the junta
is refusing to talk with the party because it awaits the right time. The
right time could be when the whole nation will explode in another upheaval
or the whole nation is on the verge of chaos.

International observers and some dissident activists used to reckon and many
still reckon that NLD was good for nothing but "confrontations". Such a
junta will not fret about the party if the tactic has never been used. In
fact, the junta has been threatened since Aung San Suu Kyi first came back
to Burma before the 1988 uprising. State propaganda used on the Myanmar TV,
Radio Myanmar, Myawaddy TV, in the state newspapers and on the Net are deja
vus to anybody who has seen it or heard or it. They seems all the same and
the people feel indifferent to the common propaganda. For example, the
Burmese TV is known to have two major colours: Green and Red. Green stands
for the uniform colour of the soldiers: the army and Red is for the
religious order in Burma. Showing religious events on TV means that they are
very pious and they stand for Buddhism which is being used as another state
propganda. If NLD confronts SPDC, the incident is in the news and it usually
becomes an international incident and that is what makes SPDC fear NLD. The

United States govenrment has always supported the NLD's policies and
political strategies. Therefore, NLD should have" no reason not to confront"
SPDC, the ruling junta unless the junta agress to start talks with NLD . In
point of fact, confrontation is the most powerful appratus , a mighty sword
as well as a politically correct strategy that will surely be supported by
the United States and the EU and an effective instrument by which NLD can
arduously claim its power for the people.
