New machinery sales office opened

          YANGON, 24 July- A ceremony to open new office of UMW Machinery
Limited & UMW Engineering Services Limited and Komatsu Asia & Pacific Pte Ltd
(Yangon Office) was held at the office, 53/54, 9th mile, Pyay Road, this
morning, attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Tin 00.

    Also present on the occasion were Minister at the State Peace and
Development Council Chairman's Office Brig-Gen Abel, Minister for Industry-2
Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Deputy Minister for Industry- 1 Brig-Gen Thein Tun, Deputy
Minister for Industry-2 U Thein Tun, Deputy Minister for Construction U Tint
Swe, Deputy Minister for Forestry Col Thaik Tun, Deputy Minister for Progress
of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs U Kyaw Tin, senior
military officers, departmental heads, diplomatic corps, entrepreneurs and
guests.

    First, General Manager Mr Christopher D'Cruz of UMW Machinery Limited & 
UMW Engineering Services Limited extended greetings.

    UMW Group Chairman Dato' Ramat Jamari and Chairman Mr Yuzo Suzuki of
Komatsu Asia & Pacific Pte Ltd explained functions of their group and new
office.

    Minister Brig-Gen Abel made a speech.

    Afterwards, Dato' Ramat 'Jamari and Mr Yuzo Suzuki presented souvenirs to
Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo and Minister Brig-Gen Abel.

    Officials of the group made donations for National ASEAN Free Trade Area
Unit and schools for the orphans of the Social Welfare Department. Then,
officials of the UMW and the Komatsu Asia & Pacific Pte Ltd exchanged
souvenirs.

    Minister Brig-Gen Abel, Dato' Ramat Jamari and Mr Yuzo Suzuki opened the
new office. They then inspected machinery and parts displayed at the office.
