The 9999 action committee Australia has been launched on 1st of August , 
1999 in Sydney. 35 activists joined as  the initial members of the committee 
which will be organising the  action on 9th of September 1999 ( Global day 
of action) . The membership is open to all organization and individuals to 
be added in meetings and actions later on.

The meeting started at 5 pm at 9999 center in a western subrb of Lidcombe. 
It was cordial and overwhelmed with enthusiasm of upcoming people struggle 
in our motherland Burma. The logo of the committee is a daring fighting 
peacock that will vigorously fight toward the  victory.

The consensus was reached that the target is military dictatorship ,  their 
representative in Australia,  so-called  Burmese embassy.
Activists will besiege the dictator symbolising to overthrow the regime by 
the power of people on the day , 9999.


Stickers , badges , poster , t-shirt will be made ready before 9999. They 
will be sent to Burma and many other countries.

Invitations will be sent to all organization and individual interested in 
9999 action.

Internationally action committees and groups will be in touch for  concerted 
activities .Australian communities , students adn trade unions, Academics , 
NGOs , parties will be urge to join the action to express support for 
democracy and human rights in Burma.

Prior to 9999 , on 8th September, street band will be staged by Burmese and 
Australian actvists . Then , marching around the embassies to alert the 
world community for 9999. And sleep- over- 9999- tent-city out side the 
embassy  .
Overall expected number of attendance is around 500 which is  big  enough to 
besiege the embassy.

Next meeting ( In Burmese)  is on 14th of August 1999 at 9999 center. Next 
meeting ( in English)  is on 17th August 6:30 pm at University of Technology 
, Sydney
