The grand doors of the Austraiian High Commission
stood open and waiting as a representative from
Burma Out made an entrance to discuss the ousting
of Burma from the Syd 2000 Olympiad.
Banners were flying, for these people were serious about
the many issues and probems of the Rangoon junta. And
outside a jolly band of supporters had gathered, even
though there were other demonstrations to attend
the following day at the more humble surroundings of the
Burmese Embassy. A small but smart ex town house
in Charles Street, London. And close by the old covert
service MI6 buildings. But wherein the present, the
"James Bonds" of this world have long gone.
And Inside? It's good to know that with the aid of the new
tech, a truly Open Society wherein rights and rules apply.
Where money does not always rule the roost. And where
those that care not that they abuse power are being slowly
but consistently herded into a rapidly narrowing corridor,
and by the international community at large, shown the
way to the door.
