Peaceful protest success at Thai Consulate- in Sydney

Today at 12 noon, about 50 activists from All Burma Students Democratic 
Organisation, Free Burma Students Network and supporters from Burmese and 
Australian community joined peaceful protest outside Thai Consulate - 
General in Sydney expressing their objection to the Trade Show (12-15 
August) organised by Thai Government in Bangkok.
Students denounce Thai government about its ignorance of the call for 
economic boycott against the illegal ruling brutal regime in Burma. Thai 
government and ASEAN countries were also demanded to review their policy of 
"constructive engagement" in the wake of 9999 movement (9/9/99-global day of 
action) which will overthrow the illegal regime.

ABSDO statement, stickers and badges of Free Burma 9999 global day of action 
were distributed. They also chanted slogans 'Free Burma - boycott Burma!' 
Free all political prisoners, Now! Convene people's parliament , Now!. Down 
with dictatorship, We want democracy etc....

Students were carrying the posters ,read as, CRPP the highest authority of 
Burma. Thailand stops trade show now! ' Free Burma 9999'. 'Free Burmese 
students political prisoners in Thailand'. 'Democracy before Trade'. Convene 
People's Parliament Doing business with the illegal regime is illegal. 
Dealing with the illegal regime is illegal.....etc..
Students renew the call for international economic santions agaisnt the 
ruthless regime.

The protest has been supported by observers and reporters, and ended in 
peaceful chants. Students urge the International Community to join 9999 
campaign in Australia and around the world.
