Aung San Suu Kyi says tourism doesn (r)

Subject: Re: Aung San Suu Kyi says tourism doesn't help Burma's future

Stop Faking It

Daily programs of radio and television known as mass media, forms of
communication to large audiences, always impacts on our idea, daily
decision making, and prediction based on the reflection of a community
of social activity, economy, health, education, sport, religion,
politic, and etc. Likewise, the media reinforces the community to move
forward in the area of civilized formation by providing right
information to the community. Unreasonably and dubiously inspired by
the media--having mush attention by the audiences--that gives wrong
information to the community, it extremely harms the innocent subjects,
people, and even leads permanent damages. So does the media. As fact
finders and public educators, it is essential that the media,
especially Radio Free Asia-Burmese Service-one of the most assessable
services by millions of Burmese in Burma under the most repressive
regime's restriction, has to review its program so-called 'Known
Symptom, Known Medicine' written and hosted by Dr. Khin Soe Win along
with broadcaster Thein Htet Oo and Nyien Shwe whether this program is
beneficial or harmful.

The fact that the program is hereby raised a serious issue is it is a
FAKING PROGRAM that started broadcasting on August 24, 1999. In the
program on August 24th, a student, namely Maung Ye La who studied
computer science in Washington, DC, got a letter from his uncial Ba Gyi
Thar Aung, from Ayar Su Village in Burma. In the letter, Lay's uncial
wrote that he had terrible whooping cough and leaking bloods during the
coughing. And his uncial wanted to know why it happened and what kind
of medicine in the US could help to stop the coughing. However, the
story was just fake and there was no such student under the name of Ye
Lay in Washington, DC, who got that kind of letter from Burma. Again,
there was no Ayar Su Village in Burma where Ba Gyi Thar Aung liked--
insofar as the Burma Watchdog Association (BWA-USA) has investigated.

More seriously, through the BWA investigation, Dr. Khin Soe Win was
never been hired as a professor in University of Alberta (UA) in
Edmonton, Canada, an official told the BWA. For further in formation,
the contact address of the university is: 114 Street-89 Ave, Edmonton
Alberta, T6G 2M7, Canada, and the telephone number is (780) 492-3111.
Khin Soe Win's phone number is (403) 439-7555 (H), and work phone is
(403) 429-4547 at the Elder Caring Center in Edmonton of Canada.

In short, before the program wrongfully going further, the RFA should
stop the faking story by Dr. Khin Soe Win. Such faking and make-up
story violates public trust and media ethic act in the US. And it could
be led legal suit by citizens and audiences if they felt and believed
the faking program might harm the community. Even though Dr. Khin Soe
win has attempted to make the faking, the RFA as taxpayers funded
service must not involve in the faking story because it directly harms
millions of Burmese whom listen to this radio. Moreover, the RFA-BS
should conduct media and journalism ethic that will help the millions
of Burmese enhancing knowledge.
