Mon Revolutionary Day (r)

THE DECLARATION FOR THE MON REVOLUTIONARY DAY

Date; August 26,1999

To day August 26, 1999, also the Mon National Era the full moon day
Khadoisoi 1360 is the 52nd anniversary of Mon revolutionary Day for Monland
of Hongsawatoi.
The Mon is the oldest among the represent various inhabitants of Burma and
is the south East Asia with the powerful and historical backgrounds. The
Mon had established the first golden Land, Mon Kingdom in Burma was
Sudhammawatoi well known as Suwannabhumi (Thaton) in B.C 1089 with full of
literature, culture and high Theravada Buddhism pleasantly.
Then, Thai, Burmese had obtained their literature and culture also Sasana
of Buddha from the Mon. After the Burmese king Anawrahta grew his power,
while the Mon King Manuhaw was easily enjoying the throne of Suwannabhumi
(Thaton), he conquered the Mon Kingdom with Theravada Mon Buddhism in A.D
1057 by force. It was the first time to be slaves of Burmese King for Mon
people, sadly.
After that, while the patriots of Mon always against the Burmese King and
tried to restore their own Kingdom, in 1287 the Mon Kingdom was finally
established at Martabaan ruled by force, ruled by Magadu as known as King
Wareru.
After the capital of Mon Kingdom was transferred to Pegu (Hongsawatoi) in
1365, the Burmese King of Taungoo Tabinshwehtee conquered the Hongsawatoi
for the second time 1540 and established his capital in Pegu.
Then the Mon hero, King Dut restored the Mon Kingdom again in 1550. While
the Hongsawatoi was ruling by Mon King on justice, in A.D 1551, the Burmese
King Bayinnaung conquered the Mon Kingdom of Hongsawatoi again for the
third time.
When his kingdom was transferred to Ava and it became weak, in 1740 the Mon
declared the independence and re-established their kingdom in Pegu
(Hongsawatoi). In 1746, the Mon commander Banyaedala marched for fighting
the Burmese capital for Ave and it fell to the Mon in 1752.
While the Mon King Banyaedala ruled the Mon kingdom Hongsawatoi in 1757,
the Burmese King U Aungzeya better known as king Alaungphaya reattacked the
Mon and reconquered the Hongsawatoi again.
Since after the Burmese King U Aungzeya conquered the Mon kingdom, they
destroyed the wealth and riches, abolished and burnt the historical golden
palace, raped, tortured and killed the simple Mon people with no meaning by
devil deeds.
After the Burma was fallen by the British, the Mon worked together with
ethnic groups through the anti-colonial struggle in 1948, the Mon was
declared the independence by the British together with ethnic groups
including Burmese.
Although the independence is not only for the Burmese but also including
Mon, because of the Burmese authorities rejected the Mon's rights in
demanding for the creation of a Mon State, which covers lower Burma. The
Mon took up arms and continued their struggle for racial rights in the wake
of Burma independence on August 19,1948. Since then our Mon revolutionary
day has been appearing for Mon people.
Initially, under the leadership of Mon People's Front (M.P.F) by Nai Aung
Tun, the Mon armed struggle had been carrying on until 1958. In July 19,
1958 (M.P.F) agreed with U Nu's parliamentary government to transform
itself as legal Mon freedom struggle under the democratic system. The
Democratic government of U Nu was abolished by the Burmese Army led by
General Ne Win in a coup D'ETAT on March 2, 1962, since then the Burma was
ruled by a military dictatorship.
The Mon armed resistance movement was continued by the New Mon State Party
(N.M.S.P) led by Nai Shwe Kyin on August 20, 1958, which replaced the
outgoing (M.P.F). The Mon armed struggle under the leadershilp of (N.M.S.P)
had continuously fought against the Military regime, State Law and Order
Restoration council (SLOCR). Then the (N.M.S.P) entered to a cease-fire on
June 29,1995.
The Mon has been fled to the foreign countries for their living among
oppressing, arresting, raping, bribing and forfeiture with full of sweat
and tear.
The representatives of the Mon National Democratic Front (M.N.D.F)
including Nai Tun Thein (Chairman of M.N.D.F), Nai Ngwe Thein, Dr. Min Soe
Lin and Dr Min Kyi Win have been imprisoned since September 1998. All of
these oppressions towards the Mons are going to be a great breech of human
rights.
Now, we, Overseas Mon National Students' Organization (O.M.N.S.O),
strongly believe that the Mon National Democratic Front (M.N.D.F) must
march to its point with all of Mon people to be full of democracy and human
rights and never forget its major national duty for Monland of Hongsawatoi.
Therefore, we Overseas Mon National Students' Organization (O.M.N.S.O),
strongly demand to the SLORC now SPDC such as on the following points by
honoring for the 52nd anniversary of Mon Revolutionary Day.

* To end to the suppression of human rights in Burma.
* To release all Mon Teachers , organizers and representatives on Monland.
* To give self-determination for the Mon People.

We, Overseas Mon National Students' Organization (O.M.N.S.O) have been
declared and promised that we are always and ever ready for major Mon
National duty on the 52nd anniversary of Mon revolutionary day without
defeatism.
