Death for 3 drug dealers

BANGKOK Criminal Court judges sentenced to death three drug traffickers
linked to Li Yun-chung, the high-profile suspect whose bail-jumping, arrest
in Burma and subsequent extradition to the United States caused a diplomatic
frenzy a few years ago.

A fourth man had his death sentence commuted to life in prison for
cooperation in the trial.

The court found Suthep Somthai and his co-defendants Napol ''Lao-U''
sae-Ten, Lao-koh sae-Yang and Lojoi sae-Li guilty as charged of conspiring
to possess and exporting 69 kilogrammes of heroin concealed in 20 air pumps
shipped to Fiji. The drug was intercepted by Singaporean authorities during
transshipment.

All four were sentenced to death, but Suthep's sentence was commuted because
his confession benefitted the trial.

Napol was a nephew of Li Yun-chung.
