</font>RANGOON&nbsp; Pro-democracy activists yesterday went to court to
complain of alleged illegal harassment and intimidation by top Burmese
junta leaders in a hearing attended by opposition leader Aung San Suu
Kyi, a government statement said.<br>
Members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) filed complaints
against 29 government officials, including powerful first secretary and
head of military intelligence Gen Khin Nyunt and Home Minister Cal Tin
Hlaing, it said.<br>
Nobel Peace laureate Suu Kyi was accompanied by deputy chairman U Tin Oo
and several party members, the statement added.<br>
Claims of alleged =93unlawful acts=94 such as illegal arrest, intimidation
and harassment of National League for Democracy members were heard.<br>
The NLD has been lacked in a bitter political struggle with the junta
since winning an overwhelming victory in 1990 elections, which were
ignored by the military<br>
Burmese courts have heard several cases filed by the NLD against the
military in recent years, but none of the complaints have been
upheld.<br>
The latest hearing was barred to journalists and diplomats, and an
eyewitness said a US diplomat who tried to enter the court was turned
away.<br>
The statement said NLD chairman Aung Shwe filed the charges against Khin
Nyunt, while central executive committee members U Lwin, U Than Thun and
U Lun Maung lodged the complaints against the home minister and 27 other
government officials.<br>
