Sorry for the repost, possible computer manip error.
In light of the effort by the belge and support from the Belgium
Minister, (remember the belgium parlement debated last march and
cancelled a royal museum exposition and tourist promotion tour, planned
for novemeber), we would like to show this very vapid excuse attempting
to appear as an honest endorsement of the burmese democratic movement
when in fact it is a thinly veiled promotion of the burmese tourism
trade, here endorsed by the poor man routard french guide, a tourist
industry handbook that sells in tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of
thousands, here in france. it is an utter disgrace, nothing less, even
in view of its stated support for the democratic movement that it
undermines and belittles by this insipid endoresement of tourism.

those interested in contact the routard publishing staff, i encourage
you to do so now. see their website. www.routard.fr (i think, check it
out, Guide du routard)

In view of this dont buy the Routard guide book when you come to france,
buy something else. and write email or fax the routards and tell them
so.

re:

Also in the first week of November groups of 220 French tourists, and 97
U.S tourists are expected to visit Yangon and ancient Myanmar capital
Bagan.

FROM THE 1999 FRENCH GUIDE DE ROUTARD

They basically take the " go, have a look, dont get ripped off, be a witness, and see for yourself how beautiful the country is and how bad the dictatorship is destroying it, see it before it goes, but remember that they ripped off
the 1990 elections, and are denounced by the Burma Tourist Boycott and the NLD leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who supports it.

Perhaps you should contact Routard and tell them that there are already plenty of witnesses, govt witnesses, individual witnesses, and that there is no more need for witnesses, and that they should cut with the hypocrisy of 'use your own soul and conscience to decide', because its already been called souless and heatless and senseless to go.

There is a saying here in France that France has no soul. And no conscience. Is this yet another demonstration ?

Tell the Routard what you think. You can find them on the net, (i dont know where, perhaps www.routard.fr) i dont know, sorry but you'll have to find it. Their address too, i dont find it on the French minitel system, you will.
