(1) Secretary-2 and Party Donates Rice to Catholic Church
Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo and
party visited Loikaw Catholic Church where a ceremony to donate rice was
held. On the occasion, the Secretary-2 said he and his party were there to
donate rice so that those who are discharging religious duty will not have
rice difficulties. The Secretary-2 then presented rice to a bishop of Loikaw
Catholic Church. Afterwards, the Secretary-2 and the Secretary-3 went to
Regional Control Command (Loikaw) where they met national race leaders of
Kayah State Special Region 1 (Kayan Region Development Committee), Kayah
State Special Region 2 )Kayinni National People's Liberation Front), Kayah
State Special Region 3 (Kayan Pyithit Party), and Kayinni National
Development Party (Hoya Region) and officials and made arrangements for
regional
development.
(2) Myanmar, Japanese Merchants, Industrialists Meet in Tokyo
The Myanmar entrepreneurs led by Minister at the State Peace and
Development Council Chairman's Office Brig-Gen Abel attended the meeting of
economic cooperation committee of Myanmar-Japan merchants and industrialists
in Tokyo, Japan, on 21 October. The meeting was sponsored by Japan Chambers
of Commerce and Industry. Professor Mr. Tamio Shimakura and
Central Executive Committee member Dr. Ko Ko Gyi of Union of Myanmar
Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry discussed the Counter Trade,
Adviser to Itochu Co Mr. Toshihiko Seikimoto and Secretary-General of UMFCCI
U Zaw Min Win on the Trade and Investment and Mr. Hiro Kinoshita and Dr. Soe
Myint of UMFCCI on the Small and Medium Enterprise.
(3) Industrial Delegation Back from Japan
A Myanmar delegation led by Minister for Industry-2 who were in Japan as
invited by Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, arrived back Yangon by air on
26 October. They discussed industrial cooperation between the two countries
and visited car production of Suzuki Motor Corporation.
(4) Minister Meets CICC Officials of Japan
Minister for Communications, Posts and Telegraphs met Executive Director
Yamazaki Akira and party of CICC (Centre of the International Cooperation for
Computerization) of Japan who called at his office on 26 October. They
discussed propagation of computer technology and Y2K matters.
