Junta Officer Authorizes Veterans As Speed Distributors
A junta commander in eastern Shan State has warranted army veterans as
distributors for amphetamines during a recent 3-day meeting, reported
Maihoong from eastern Shan State.
From 4-6 November, an army veterans' meeting was held in Mongton
Township,
Monghsat District, opposite Chiangmai Province of Thailand.
Ltc. Myint Sway Commander of IB 65, in his address to the 48
participants
from Poongpakhem, Nakawngmu, Wanyen and Wanna, was reported to have said
veterans with little or no income-generating jobs would be "permitted"
to
sell 500 amphetamines tablets per month each, at the price 10 baht per
tablet.
There are already about 1.5 million tablets in the battalion camp,
according to Maihoong's source.
"Some of them seized but most of them manufactured in the area by the
army's permission", he said.
