1123-01 More on China-Myanmar Industrial Co-operation
**Myanmar's Secretary1, Khin Nyunt, called for speeding up of joint
China-Myanmar industrial cooperation works under way in Myanmar, during the
China-Myanmar
Economic Cooperation Enhancing Committee meeting on 18th November in Yangon.

China is carrying out construction of hydroelectric powers plants in
Myanmar's Bago and Mon provinces, a paper mill in Mandalay, a container
yard in Myanmar's north-western Saging province and a dock yard in Yangon
as well as the farm machinery production and mining amongst other.

1123-02 January 10-15 Schedules Year 2000 Gems Emporium
**Myanma Economic Holding Ltd, the organiser of year 2000 gems emporium
announced the date for holding of the event on 18th November.

The emporium will be held in Yangon's Gems Emporium Hall from 10 to 15
January, 2000.The emporium will sell Myanmar gems on bargain and auction
system.

1123-03 Course On Forestry Management
**Under the cooperation programme between Myanmar's Agriculture Ministry
and Laos Forestry Ministry, a one-month course on forest management and
techniques will be held in Yangon during the next week.

7 Forestry officers from Laos are also attending the course to be held from
23rd November to 29 December in Yangon. Training Programme for Laos
Forestry officials in Yangon was reached during the Myanmar's Agriculture
Minister visit to Laos in September this year.

1123-04 Malaysian City Planners To Visit Yangon Next Month
**A group of Malaysian experts on city planning are coming to Myanmar this
December at the invitation of Yangon's Municipal authorities.

The expert team will advice on systematic development of Yangon's suburb
including the its economic development.

1123-05 More Bangladesh Investments Likely
**Two Bangladeshi entrepreneurs of Unique Group who are currently in Yangon
met on 18th November with the Myanmar Chamber of Commerce officials.

The two sides discussed mainly on Bangladesh's plan to invest more in
Myanmar's industrial and manufacturing sectors as well as joint venture
business opportunities between Myanmar and Bangladesh companies.

1123-06 Myanmar Last Week
**Last week's business summary:
1 A new 8,400 feet long bridge was commissioned into service on the vital
Yangon-Pathein highway at the cost of over US$ 25 million. Pathein is a
major commercial city in Myanmar's southwestern Ayeyawady province. The
commissioning of the new bridge will pave the way for the direct road links
between Yangon and Pathein.

2. Myanmar's International Insurance Corporation opened its branch office
in upper Myanmar commercial city of Monywa. More branch offices are
expected to open in Myanmar and arrangements are underway to start joint
venture insurance business between Myanmar's Insurance Corporation and
Japan's Mitsui Fire & Marine Insurance Corporation in near future.

3. List of potential foreign investors who visited Yangon.
3. 1.Managing Director of Tokyo Stock Exchange met with Myanmar's Finance
Ministry officials in Yangon.
3.2. Vice-President of France's Ingrerop Co met in Yangon with the
Myanmar's Light Industries Minister in Yangon.

3.3.General Manager of China's De Li International Trade Company met in
Yangon with the Myanmar's Investment Commission Secretary on 16th November.

3.4.Japan's JMI Corporation officials met in Yangon with the Chairman of
Myanma Investment Commission officials in Yangon.

3.5.Managing Director of Gasing Height Sdn Bhd of Malaysia was in Yangon
and met with Secretary of Myanmar's Investment Commission

3.6.Chairman of Malaysia's European Asian Technology & Investment Company
on 17th November met with Myanmar's Light Industries Minister in Yangon to
discuss detail plan for construction a pharmaceutical factory in
Pyin-Oo-Lwin town (formerly Maymyo) in Myanmar central Mandalay province.
