(1) Secretary-1 Attends Depavali Festival
A ceremony to mark Depavali Festival of All Myanmar
Hindu Central Board was held at the National Theatre
on Myoma Kyaung Road (Yangon) on 22 November.
Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt formally opened the ceremony by
lighting the oil lamp. Chairman of the Committee for
Organization Depavali Festival Dr. D B Limbu and
Chairman of All Myanmar Hindu Central Board Shri G S
Sharma extended greetings. Vice-Chairman of the
Committee for Organizing Depavali Festival explained
matters related to the festival. Then, Minister for
Religious Affairs made a speech.
(2) 16 Members of KNPP Exchange Arms for Peace
A 16-member armed group led by Secretary U Saw Bae
Bay of No. 4 Township of Gekaw Region of Kayinni
National Progressive Party exchanged arms for peace at
the military column in Hoya Region of Regional Control
Command (Loikaw) area. The commander of Regional
Control Command extended greetings. Then, the
commander invited remnant armed groups to exchange
arms for peace and to return to the legal fold. He
urged the armed group members, who exchanged arms for
peace, to participate in the regional development
tasks and said that necessary assistance will be
extended to them.
(3) Singaporean, Myanmar Heart Surgeons Perform
Operations
A medical team led by cardiologist Dr. Lesile Lam and
heart surgeon Dr. Joseph Sheares of Mt. Elizabeth
Hospital of Singapore gave medical treatment in
cooperation with a medical team of Myanmar Tatmadaw
at the Defence Services General Hospital, Mingaladon,
from 19 November up to 22 November. A joint team led
by cardiologist Dr. Lesile Lam and heart specialist
Lt-Col Aung Kyaw Zaw gave medical treatment to 55
out-patients within four days. A medical team
comprising heart surgeon Dr. Joseph Sheares and heart
specialists Lt-Col Tin Maung Aye and Lt-Col Daw
Muya Kyi Tin and anaesthetists Lt-Col Maung Lay and
Lt-Col Myat Khaing performed heart operations on six
patients.
(4) Printing and Dyeing Mill opened in Myingyan
A ceremony to open the Printing and Dyeing Mill of
the Ministry of Industry-1 was held at Myingyan
Industrial Zone, Mandalay Division, on 21 November.
(5) Officials Leave for Thailand
Member of Civil Service Selection and Training Board
U Aung Myint and Director U Hla Kyi of Civil Service
Selection Training Department left Yangon by air for
Thailand on 22 November to attend the 10th ASEAN
conference on civil service matters to be held from
23 to 26 November in Bangkok, Thailand.
