The banned United Liberation Front of Asom is said to have been
agreed to thin down its presence in Bhutan and it contemplating a shift
of
strength to neighbouring Burma and Tirap and Changlang districts of
Arunachal Pradesh. Disclosing this to The Asian Age here on Wednesday,
highly placed official sources said latest intelligence feedback
suggests this agreement was achieved after a top administrative official
of Bhutan
personally visited the Deothan camp of the banned outfit during his tour
of border areas. Ruling out the possibility of any joint offensive
against the
banned ULFA in Bhutan, they said that the royal government has directed
its district administrations to intensify the security network in border
districts. Huge ration supplies to the camps have also been banned.
According to a report, the administration has also asked people not to
lease
out their animals to the outfit for carrying rations to hilly terrains,
where the Ulfa camps are operating from.
