any more information on algeria oil and gas, go ahead and post it
by the way, there SHOULD be a human rights alternative to OPEC
against all these oil and gas companies, they are ALL keeping the
military dictatorships in power, and oil and gas in your home, office
and car...

Total Signs a Production Sharing Contract to Develop
the Tin Fouye Tabankort Field in Algeria (TotalFina)

       Paris, January 28, 1996

TOTAL, Sonatrach and Repsol have just signed a production
sharing contract to develop and produce the natural gas
reserves of the Tin Fouye Tabankort field in southeast Algeria
and extract LPG and condensates. Final approval of the contract
by the Algerian authorities is still pending.

The three companies TOTAL (35 %), Sonatrach (35 %) and Repsol
(30 %) will establish a joint subsidiary to act as operator.

Gas from the Tin Fouye Tabankort field is damp and therefore
contains a high proportion of LPG and condensates. Under the
contract, a two-train facility to separate the LPG and
condensates from the gas is to be built by 1998.
Sixty wells -of which half is still to be drilled- will be
producing at that time. Over a period of twenty years, the
plant will produce 18 million cubic meters/day of dry gas,
700,000 tonnes/year of LPG and one million tonnes/year of
       condensates.

The combined recoverable gas and liquid reserves have been
estimated at around one billion barrels of oil equivalent.

As reimbursement and payment for its expenses, TOTAL will
receive the share of production allocated to the company under
the terms of the production sharing agreement. It will transfer
its share of dry gas to Algeria's Sonatrach in exchange for
additional LPG and condensates. TOTAL will export its full
quota of LPG and condensates. In the future, the parties
reserve the right -by mutual agreement- to market the dry gas
       jointly.

The project is to cost $850 million, with each of the three
partners investing proportionately to their stake.

=====
22nd March, 1999

Production Started on Tin Fouye Tabankort Field in Algeria

TOTAL (35%), SONATRACH (35%) and REPSOL (30%) have started
production on the Tin Fouye Tabankort (TFT) natural gas field
located approximately 1,200 kilometers from Algiers in
southeast Algeria. The three partners operate the field jointly
under a production sharing agreement signed in January 1996 for
a 20-year period effective from startup.

Production of wet gas, which started at a rate of 5 million

cubic meters per day (cm/d), should reach the nominal rate of
20 million cm/d (around 7 billion cm per year) within the next
few weeks. The wet gas is separated into dry gas, LPG and
condensate in the field extraction plant, which has two
identical processing trains built by Brown & Root in
collaboration with several Algerian service companies.
Condensate and LPG are then shipped separately to the Algerian
coast at rates of respectively 23,000 b/d (850,000 metric tons
[Image]per year) and 26,000 b/d (750,000 metric tons per year). The
dry natural gas is transferred to the SONATRACH transportation
       system.

Investment for TFT field development amounted to approximately
$700 million shared by each of the partners in proportion to
their interest. As repayment and compensation for this
investment, TOTAL and its partners receive the share of natural
gas, LPG and condensate output they are entitled to under the
production sharing agreement. They also receive additional LPG
and condensate from SONATRACH in exchange for handing over
their share of natural gas to the Algerian company.

TOTAL is also a partner with SONATRACH in operating the Hamra
field, which started production in late 1995. The output of
this field is currently about 1 million metric tons per year
(t/y) of condensate and 450,000 t/y of LPG, or around 40,000
barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Startup of TFT field production is consequently an important
milestone for TOTAL's operations in Algeria, where the Group is
committed to actively pursuing sustained growth.
