 Reports from Nepal say police have detained several members of an
opposition
 party, the Marxist-Leninist party, who called a general strike to
protest at
 an increase in fuel prices last month . 
 
 A party member Yamlal Kadel is quoted as saying that the police stormed
the
 party office and arrested at least one-hundred and fifty supporters. 
 
 The government says the increase was the result of a similar rise in
global
 prices.
