Subject: Total Fina Oil Spill : "a fragmentation bomb"

Well people, for your information the news here is that the Total Fina
oil spill is now more or less like a fragmentation bomb that has
despersed its load in "nappes", large ugly viscous patches of oil, some
00 km southwest off the coast from the Ile d'Yea, a beautiful natural
little place northwest of the Ile de Ré, another a favorite summer
vacation spot that might get hit by this Total Fina oil disaster. While
immediate danger is still days away, winds are blowing it closer to the
southwest coast; still, Thierry Desmarest has offered, accounting to
radio accounts, to provide a billion french francs if necessary for the
cleanup. Difficult weather conditions and clogged pumps (its so thick it
blocks the pumping gear) have made clean up virtually impossible.

It must be nice to have so much money to throw into the ocean after
polluting. Like you can just throw money into the ocean and its okay.
Well, we'll see what happens as the story unfolds. A lot of french are
very irked by this oil spill and are looking hard at Total Fina for
responsiblity. For now, its still a good distance off the French coast
and breaking up.
