UDNR founded for national youths of border areas to 
have access to institutions of higher learning

YANGON, 6 Jan - A meeting was held this afternoon 
at Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army) to coordinate 
programmes for students of Regular Primary 
Teachership Course No 31 of University for Development 
of National Races to visit Yangon.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary-1 of the State 
Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt 
said although the conducting of an excursion to 
Yangon by students of primary teachership course 
of University for Development of National Races 
upon the conclusion of their course is an annual 
routine function, serious attention should be 
paid for the excursion to make sure that it is 
full of political essence.

At present, internal and external destructive 
elements are committing perpetrations to break 
up the Union.

The government is endeavouring to further 
strengthen the spirit of national solidarity and 
Union Spirit for perpetuation of the Union.

The UDNR was founded with the aim of enabling 
national youths living in border areas to have 
access to institutions of higher learning and to 
take part in regional development tasks when they 
get back to their places and to ensure proportionate 
progress in all parts of the Union which contributes 
to promotion and propagation of the spirit of 
national solidarity and Union Spirit.

Arrangements should be made for the students to 
study and understand the all-round developments 
in farming and industrial sectors and the State's 
goodwill and sincere attitude toward the national 
people during their visit to the respective townships.

Head of State Senior General Than Shwe will give 
guidance to the students during their Yangon tour; 
which should be kept in mind throughout their life.

Arrangements should be made to enable the students 
to pay serious attention to their excursion and to 
understand that they have the duty to strive with 
the spirit of national solidarity for perpetuation 
and progress of the Union while realizing the 
essence of the Union and the vitality of Union 
Spirit.

Development Council Commander of Yangon Command 
Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than explained programmes being 
made for students of Regular Primary Teachership 
Course No 31 to tour Yangon.

Officials of sub-work groups reported to the 
meeting on accomplishments sector wise.

The Secretary-1 gave suggestions.

Also present were ministers, chairman of Civil 
Service Selection and Training Board, senior 
military officers, officials of the State Peace 
and Development Council Chairman's Office and 
heads of department.
