Myanmar South East - Emergency Overview Map: Number of people displaced in South East since Feb 2021 and remain displaced (As of 18 Sep 2023)

"WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS: In the South-East, the number of IDPs increased from 523,900 from last week to 530,400 this week. In Bago (East) Region, ongoing fighting forced 4,900 IDPs from Kyaukkyi Township to flee within the same township. This includes some 425 IDPs being displaced multiple times. In Kayin State, as a result of armed clashes, some 7,700 IDPs were displaced for the second time in Kyainseikgyi Township. In Mon State, some 20 IDPs from Thaton Township were displaced within the same township due to the fighting near their villages but have returned to their homes since then. In Shan (South), some300 IDPs from Mongkaing Township were displaced to Nansang Township due to intensified fighting in their area. In Tanintharyi Region, some 1,800 IDPs from Palaw Township were displaced within the township due to increased tensions and security concerns. Across the border, about 8,300 people from Myanmar remain displaced in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand..."
