Description:
"The Nagas' very rich cultural heritage is slowly dying out. The younger generation seems to be forgetting
where they are coming from, caught up between two worlds-the western culture and the Naga culture. I'm
one of them. Ask me, what it is about my culture I deem important and its definite I'll mumble something
obscure which will hold no one's attention. If you ask me to make it a bit clearer I'll no doubt say, "I don't
really know. Let me find it out". By which time, I'm sure you'll agree, the interest will have waned.
Whatever the case, it is a fact that, the Naga people need to know their heritage as Nagas to keep their ethnic
identity alive. With this objective, the Naga-Japanese Cultural Exchange Association has been set up. The Association aims at
creating awareness of the Naga culture and community through promotion of Naga art and culture (Traditional and
contemporary), through Newsletters, documentaries, exhibition and sale of Naga artefacts, clothing and ornaments, discussions,
workshops and other cultural exposure activities, within and outside the Naga community. It is not merely tracing back the
cultural roots of the Nagas but also to preserve and keep it alive before the ethnic identity vanish from the mind of every Naga..."
