Pyidaungsu Hluttaw 8 April, 2015: Parliament stops accommodation for MPs at state-owned guesthouse

"Nay Pyi Taw, 8 April — MPs asked Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on Wednesday for Hluttaw?s accommodation as the parliament has stopped its arrangement for their staying at the guesthouse owned by the guest house of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee during Hluttaw sessions. U Mahn Tin Aung Myint, an MP of Kayin State constituency 12, proposed construction of buildings for parliamentarians by 2016 when they come for Hluttaw sessions. Daw Nang Sae Awa, an MP of Hpa-an Township constituency, also said MPs agreed in 2012 on transferal of budget for building temporary accommodations to the peace-making works, and submitted that proposal for review. Daw Dwe Bu, an MP of Injanyan Township constituency, also said accommodation for parliamentarians should be located near Hluttaw buildings for easy access. In response to the proposals of parliamentarians, Union Minister for Finance U Win Shein said MPs are provided with free accommodation arranged by the Parliament during the period of Hluttaw sessions, however, using any stateowned buildings for the affairs of their parties is deemed breaching political party registration law."
