"Nay Pyi Taw, 11 May — The government will not make any transport arrangements for voters in the upcoming general elections, even in remote areas, said Union Election Commission member U Win Ko to Pythu Hluttaw on Monday. In response to a query from Htantabin Township MP U Thein Yi, the UEC member told the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House) that such facilitation by any political party or electoral representative is tantamount to a breach of the electoral law. U Win Ko also said polling stations will open in remote areas in accordance with the law, following consultation with sub-commissions on the appropriate number of polling stations for each township. He then noted voter education will be conduct-ed by media, election commissions in constituencies, political parties and civil service organizations. Regarding the benefits of switching from the National Single Window to the ASEAN Single Window, Dr Lin Aung, the deputy minister for finance, said the system could reduce the time and cost involved in foreign trade by streamlining customs processes and improving management of trade departments. The deputy minister added that Myanmar is setting up the Automated Custom Clearance System and information system with financial assistance of the Japanese government to replace the existing manual system and the Myanmar e-custom system. U Khin Maung Nyo also read out the report on Television and Broadcasting Bill with amendments transferred by the Amyotha Hluttaw."
