" Nay Pyi Taw, 19 Feb — The Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House) continued its 19th day session on Thursday, with questions and answers regarding farming disputes and standards and measures for sale of alcohol and a submission of motion. In his answer to the question on promulgation of anti-bullying laws, rules and regulations for farmers who won the farming dispute cases, Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Brig-Gen Kyaw Kyaw Tun said that new legislation is not needed as existing farmland law and rules and regulations, the penal code and general and specials laws have provided adequate protection for farmers to do their businesses peacefully. The deputy minister also responded to a question on matters related to sale of alcohol that licenses have been issued in accord with a chain of approvals by local authorities; that regulators from the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Ministry of Health have released recommendations to ensure safe alcohol sale; and that actions are being taken against production and distribution of unqualified alcohol and illegal alcohol sellers in accord with the law. During the today?s session, U Myint Soe of Pyawbwe Constituency submitted a proposal urging the Union government to give exemption to those who resides on both sides of the highway from lawsuits against them as the new Highway Law requires houses to be built 230 feet apart from the highway, whereas the previous law only requires 100 feet."
