"Nay Pyi Taw, 26 May — The Ministry of Health has distributed snake anti- venom to rural hospitals and health centres for treatment of farmers and residents during growing season, Deputy Minister for Health Dr Win Myint told the Pyithu Hluttaw on Tuesday, at the 52nd-day session of the Lower House. The deputy minister explained the distribution of anti-venom in reply to Dr May Win Myint of Mayangon constituency, who asked about management of foreign aid for snakebite treatment. Dr Win Myint said Myanma Pharmaceutical Enterprise, under the Ministry of Industry, is receiving technical assistance and materials from the WHO, Australia and Brazil for production of anti-venom. U Myint Thein of Mudon Constituency asked about modernization of railroads and whether new coaches from Japan would be operated on the Mawlamyine- Ye route. Deputy Minister for Rail Transportation U Chan Maung said priority is being given to improvement of Yangon?s circular railroad and other high-usage routes, and there is no plan to use new Japanese coaches on the Mawlamyine-Ye section. U Aung Thein Lin of South Okkalapa constituency asked how Branch 1 of the investigation commission was handling 1,501 complaints of land confiscation and what plans were in place to report its findings. Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Brig- Gen Kyaw Zan Myint said the branch had scrutinized 14 cases involving 1,166 acres of confiscated farmlands and had transferred 664 acres of farmland to 84 farmers, and 387 more acres to 18 other farmers, as well as 65 acres of pasture land to respective persons."
