"Nay Pyi Taw, 29 June — A total of 49,074 companies has been registered in Myanmar, and all these companies are concerned with the Burma Companies Act 1914, and Special Act 1950, said Deputy Minister for National Planning and Economic Development Daw Lei Lei Thein to Pyithu Hluttaw on Monday. Myanmar has 444,98 private companies, 199 public companies, 4299 foreign companies and 78 joint-venture companies. Deputy Minister for Mines U Than Tun Aung said the ministry allowed 280 jade exploration sites, but licenses were revoked to 60 of them as they failed to pay allowance fees . The deputy minister also said some exploration sites beside Chindwin river could not produce the mineral, and that they could not pay the tax. Pyithu Hluttaw then approved bills on protection of antiques, ancient buildings and legal supporting passed by Amyotha Hluttaw."
