US's Ambassador in Paris, Felix G R

Subject: US's Ambassador in Paris, Felix G Rohatyn (IHT 22 10 99)

"From the American Model, Lessons in Globalization"
this article may be on the www.iht.com site
extract: "it is fair to say that 10 years ago no one in the United
States thought about American hegemony, and most Americans believed that
globalization posed greater threats than benefits."

Really?

extract:

"America has adapted to globablization, probably better than most
countrires, as a result of the attributes of its economic, political and
cultural system. I would argue, however, that America's current
performance is the result of globalization and not the cause. And no one
will guarantee that it is permanent.

"France is one of the success stories of adapting to globalization. The
splendid performance of French private sector companies is proof of
their competitiveness."

This is Clinton's backer, and now US government official firmly giving a
strong pat on the back to the French company TOTAL, that in the last few
years has privatised.

Maybe the French ambassador, a well known NY market capitalist should
spend less time at french gourmet dinners. But what the heck, he was
with ITT during ITT's CIA-White House backed collaboration with
Pinochete to overthrow Allende. That's a historic fact.
